It is used to make traditional tea using traditional loose tea or easy to use tea-bags. The tea is placed on the top kettle, and the water is placed on the bottom, larger kettle. After the bottom kettle's water becomes heated, some of that water is poured into the top layer, where it starts to slowly brew the loose tea. Once the bottom layer restarts to boil, the tea is ready to enjoy. This is a lot of fun at gatherings, where the double pots makes it very easy to pour just the right amount of tea vs. hot water for each guest.
